A flicker of life,
A fleeting moment of warmth
It's fulfilling the purpose
As a reminder of hope.
It's life slowly diminishes,
Sinking into what's below
But still the flames stay warm and strong
Fighting the darkness that will swallow it all.
In the darkness it shines like a star
It allows for praying and peace.
As the fuel runs out, its flame disappears
A flicker of life, a ________.

ReplyDeleteGood work, Qiyang! This poem has a lot of depth in it and is very thought provoking! It was also quite difficult to figure out what you were talking about (it was for me). However, I think the concept was kind of getting repetitive, like "...as a reminder of hope..." and "...it allows for praying and peace..."- I don't know... it might be just part of the poem, like to emphasize a point, but for me, it seemed like it was getting repetitive. Despite that, I think it is one of the best poems I've read so far! (I thought the answer was a fireplace)
