who is he?

He is the one who worked for you
he is the one who helped you throughout your life
he is the one who played with you when you were bored
he was the one who calmed you down when you were angry
he is the one who bought you the things you wanted
he is the one who did everything he can to keep you happy
he is the one who explained the subjects you didn't get
he is the one who helped you during your ruff times
And he is the one who loved you the most!

who is he?

Renaissance Project

Purpose/Intention
The intention of this project is to show our understanding of the history of the renaissance.Another purpose of this project was about learning to create a graphic organizer with a lot of information but less sentences and paragraphs.

Self Assess
I think I should get a high B or low A because I used many pictures to explain the everyday life in the renaissance. Each section has a line that represents what the section is about. Also each picture has a little explanation talking a bit about that part of the section. Also i but in a chart showing the social pyramid of the people that lived in the renaissance. Over all i would think I deserve From a B to an A.

Religion Poster

Star: For the my religion project I put a lot of pictures that represent each part of a religion.
Star: I explained very thoroughly when I did my presentation, explaining the religion and all the parts of a religion and if Scientology had them.

Wish: I wish I would of colored the background of the poster and wrote a bit neater and glued the pictures better.

Religion

Star: my pictures were all organized under topics so it was easy reference when doing my speech as well as it showed that Zoroastrianism has all 5 parts of a religion
Star: the pictures made sense to my speech and added character.
Wish: I wish it looked more neat and the pictures were glued better. If the pictures were smaller I could've added more pictures to talk about and refer to.

Reflections Continued

I learned a lot from these two projects. The biggest skill that I practiced, was how to space out the poster evenly, without leaving too much space, or crowding the project. For the religion project, I learned how to distribute information without using words, by using "easy to understand" pictures. In my Renaissance project, I learned how to put a lot of information in a poster, while making it very organized and easy to read at the same time.
I am most proud of how both of my posters turned out. I thought that they both were very organized and that the colours looked well done, as well as stood out.

Renaissance Reflections

Purpose/Intention:

The purpose of this project was to demonstrate our graphic organizing skills, since we were making a web and incorporating other organizers in the project as well. This also demonstrated our note-making skills, to see how well we could take in information and classify them into categories.

Self Assess:

I think I deserve a Mid  A on this project. The reason being, is because I have all the needed parts in my web, such as other graphic organizers, metaphors, besides a legend. I don't have a legend, because my web is already divided fairly easily, so there was no need for a legend to explain where each main topic was. As mentioned earlier on, I incorporated other graphic organizers, such as T-charts. I also added in a metaphor (The Renaissance spreading through Europe was similar to a fire spreading through a tree), which was recommended. I also used a lot of colour and drew pictures to help explain some concepts or to provide an image for my facts. My writing was not hard to read, with bright colours or crowded words.
One thing that I think I could have improved on, would be the connections. I did add personal connections, but more connections with more variety would have made it better.

Renaissance

On this project I think I deserve a B-A. I worked hard on my project and used my notes to justify all my topics and describe them, however I think I could've added more graphic organizers so that the poster had more comparisons. I tried to join my topics to show that all of the Renaissance was connected and all parts of it is what made it thrive. I colour coated my ideas used a Venn diagram do comparison and also had a legend. Trade gave the Renaissance more money and the expensive products that people craved. It also allowed for ideas to spread across Europe.

What am I?

Weighed down by tons of ocean
I am moulded, sculpted, and pounded  best part of the summer
exploring imagination
Teenagers enjoy my warmth on a smouldering summers day
Great for tanning, and lounging around
I am the best part of the beach

Definition Poem

By: Anthony Rich

A ______
has many lines:
numbers on each
sides divided
it is straight
like an arrow
producing beautiful lines
that are as sharp as ever
giving you precise measurements
of length and width

Description Poem

A / The / An _______________

It chases with no legs
It gives life but also kills
It drinks up entire lakes
And can flourish tall hills

Pulls you closer
But does not want to be touched
Sees everything,
Yet doesn't know much

The Father nourishes his children,
And those who eat them
But when he is angered,
He can destroy them

It is hot tempered,
It can do what doesn't want to be done
But it is the start of every inspiration
The centre of life, it is __________

Definition Poem

A flicker of life,
A fleeting moment of warmth
It's fulfilling the purpose
As a reminder of hope.

It's life slowly diminishes,
Sinking into what's below
But still the flames stay warm and strong
Fighting the darkness that will swallow it all.

In the darkness it shines like a star
It allows for praying and peace.
As the fuel runs out, its flame disappears
A flicker of life, a ________.

Religion and Renaissance poster

Star: I think that we did pretty well organizing our poster and sorting it into different categories. The images are clear and helped us with our presentation.
Star: I think that the images are clear and understandable. We had many pictures that describe each main topic.
Wish: I think we should space the poster out more evenly because there is a huge space where the names are, and the code of conduct area is a bit crowded.

I think I would give myself a low to middle A because I had many comparisons, using a venn diagram and other kinds of organizers. I also colour coded everything and showed connections between two ideas. I also made some connections from Renaissance to today. I also included a legend. One thing that I would add more is pictures.

From these assignments, I learned to organize my notes in two different ways: one using a visual aid poster and one using words to form connections and organize it into categories.

Description Poem

A ______

is not tall,
but has the most stories,
it has no celebrities,
but still shares the most glories.

the bodyguard prevents,
the theft of it's children,
who can tell everyone,
about the past pilgrims.

the knowledge that these children know,
will greatly vary,
their "father" and this object,
is a _______

POSTER REFLECTIONS (CONT.)

I learned (from these assignments) a variety of things such as properly spacing and how to use different graphic organizers within another, as well as collaborating ideas (for the religion poster) and how to show depth of thought and comprehension of the learning intentions and the subject matter. I am most proud of my renaissance poster because I spent the most time on it, and also, I feel it shows more growth in learning than the religion poster, since it was done later.

Religion Project Reflection

Purpose/ Intention:

The purpose and intention of this project, was to make a poster to serve as a visual aid. This meant to create a poster that we could use to help with our religion presentation.

2 Stars:

1. In my opinion, our poster was very organized. You could tell what category every picture fell into, since it was colour-coded and also was very spaced out. The poster wasn't confusing and was very easy to use as a visual aid in our presentation, since it was so organized.

2. I also thought the pictures in our poster was very good. They were very clear and were very easy to understand by just looking at them. For example, you could tell that "the temple picture" was used for rituals and that "the no lying" picture was for the code of conduct.

1 Wish:

Something that we could have worked on would have been to make the pictures bigger, as they are a bit small. There is still white space on the poster, so enlarging the pictures would have been easy. This would have made the pictures easier to see and use in our presentation.

RENAISSANCE POSTER

PURPOSE / INTENTION

-To organize information in a web along with other visual aids and graphic organizers to show depth of thought and comprehension of the intentions, and the subject matter.

EVALUATION

If I were to give myself a grade it would be a low or a middle A because I put a lot of effort into this and according to the criteria for an A, it has to be well organized and have a consistency of colours, shapes, fonts, and it can't be too crowded that it is illegible. In my opinion, I have all of those (but maybe a little too much excess white space- but is still legible) and I made use of different shapes, colours, and fonts. Second, it has to have other graphic organizers, metaphors, symbolism, and analogies. I have two different graphic organizers, which are venn-diagrams and a fish-bone. Unfortunately I did not put any metaphors, and etc. in my poster. Thirdly, I displayed a variety of connections, and used different lines to do so. Last of all, I used my own words and I added visual aids that supported the text and also, I added a legend explaining what the different lines were for.

RELIGION POSTER- TAOISM REFLECTIONS

PURPOSE / INTENTION

-To create a visual aid with no words (except key words) that helps the readers (or listeners) have a better understanding with the use of pictures.

2 STARS

1.We did well on organizing our poster so that it was easier to read. We did this by colour coding the different pictures (ex. If Rituals is outlined in Green, then all the pictures relating to that are outlined in green). Because of this, it is very easy to follow when presented.

2.Another thing we did well on was the layout. We excelled on dividing the poster up nicely and also spacing out the pictures so that it didn't look too overcrowded. The pictures were also easy to comprehend (ex. for no lying had a picture of Pinocchio)

1 WISH

-Although there were a few good points on our poster, there are some things that I would change. We should have made some of the pictures bigger so that it would have been easier to read from a distance, because I think that effected our presentation a lot. As you can see, there is excess white space on the poster, therefore, we could have easily enlarged some of the pictures. :(

Renaissance Poster Reflection

The following 2 photos are pictures of my renaissance project while I was working on it and when I was done.

I am proud of this project because i put a lot of time and effort into making this poster. I felt that I used a good amount of colour and comparisons, I am also very proud of my font choice and design in the middle because it represents the Renaissance well. The reason I chose purple for the outline on the two semi-circle designs in the middle is because it is surrounding a particular font style that looks kind of like something that would be in a royal engraving, or special letter or book. Purple represented royalty in the Renaissance and I figured it would be a perfect place to insert that colour. I spaced everything pretty well also. I do wish though that I would have spent a little longer on the drawings. If I had to give myself a letter grade I would either give myself a high B or a low to middle A.

Religion Project Reflection

Below is a picture of the graphic organizer I made for my religion project. My topic was death rituals and funeral practices of the religions: Protestant Christianity, Hinduism, and Sikhism.
religion project web
2 stars: My first star is I felt my pictures represented the topic well, and they were easy to see as well as understand. I tried to use bold colours, and markers for the pictures so everyone could see my poster from the back of the room.  My second star is my script. My script was very detailed and included a lot of interesting information about funeral practices and death rituals of the religions: Protestant Christianity, Hinduism, and Sikhism. I had a ton of information describing how people in these different religions were laid to rest of cremated.
1 wish: My one wish for next time is that I use the graphic organizer to explain details instead of just my script. I felt I didn't look up enough to have a chance to look at my poster more than a few times. Next time I would learn my script like the back of my hand so I could use eye contact and other tips the videos you showed us provided to engage the audience, and so I could use my graphic organizer.
